<p>About 11.20 per cent of total data collected by enumerators during the social-education survey in Dakshina Kannada District has been digitised. <br /><br />The district has a total of 4,30,677 households and the socio-education survey has been completed. A total of 3,930 blocks were created for the survey. <br /><br />Expressing displeasure at the slow pace of digitisation of data collected on Monday, Deputy Commissioner A B Ibrahim directed the authorities from BEL to increase the number of systems to upload the data in each centre. The data entry centre should be started in Moodbidri, Mulki and Surathkal to accelerate the process of digitisation in Mangaluru rural area covering Magaluru taluk, Mulki, Moodbidri and Ullal limits. <br />The DC said that existing computers in Bantwal and Puttur data entry centres should be increased to 50 and in Sullia, it should be 25. </p>.<p>Mangalore City Corporation Zonal Commissioner Prameela said that there are instances of families refusing to divulge the information to the enumerators citing that they would be giving the information back in their native. The MCC limits had a total of 23,547 locked houses. The total families surveyed in the MCC limits is 98,112. The enumerators have not visited hostels and paying guest accommodations which have floating population in Mangaluru. </p>.<p>MCC Commissioner Hephsiba Rani Korlapati said that details from 6,000 Form 3 have been digitised. “If they go by this pace, they would require atleast 172 days to complete the digitisation process. Hence, there is a need to strengthen the number of computers for completing the digitisation process at the earliest.” There is also shortage of data operators, said the authorities. <br /><br />Refusal to open door<br /><br />Ullal TMC Chief Officer said that 10,007 households have been covered in the survey. The data from one house could not be collected as the house owner refuse to open the house inspite of repeated request. “I will visit the house once again to convince the owner to furnish details.” On the other hand, in Puttur TMC limits, the number of properties is 12,234. The survey has been completed in 11,355 households. As the enumerators had included the commercial buildings for the survey, there was a huge difference in the number of households covered and number of houselist.</p>.<p>To which, Additional DC Sadashiv Prabhu directed all the charge officers to cross check the revised house list to ensure that no house is left out in the survey. <br />Quality checks<br /><br />Social Welfare Officer Santhosh said that steps had been taken to ensure that complete census data was uploaded to the main server to facilitate compilation. The data entered in the system undergoes quality checks, he said, adding that Form-3 from every household is given for data entry only after verification by the supervisors and the charge officers.<br /><br />‘Contact helpline’<br /><br />Deputy Commissioner A B Ibrahim said that if the enumerators have failed to visit the houses for collecting the data, people can contact Assistant Commissioner, Additional DC, <br />Tahsildars or helpline —080-44554444. The enumerators have been given the deadline of May 5 to ensure that all the households are covered. <br /></p>
