A teenager was allegedly gang-raped after being drugged by two men during a meeting on the pretext of a job interview in north east Delhi’s Sonia Vihar on Sunday.

A case under Indian Penal Code has been registered on the basis of the girl’s complaint, but police are investigating the matter more thoroughly before making any arrests.

According to police, the 19-year-old girl was rushed to St Stephen's Hospital after a call was made to the police control room at around 11.35 pm. She has been counseled twice since.

“The girl was intoxicated when the police team found her in north Delhi’s Civil Lines,” said Deputy Commissioner of Police (North) Madhur Verma, adding that two accused were questioned on Monday.

The victim, a resident of Ghaziabad, told police that she was lured by one of the accused to his office in Sonia Vihar on Sunday evening. When she went to the office, the accused asked a friend to join them over the phone following which the latter reached to find them consuming drinks and having snacks.

“Soon after consuming the drinks, the girl started feeling dizzy and lost consciousness. She claims the two men then took turns to sexually assault her,” another police officer said. When she regained consciousness, she found herself on the streets in Civil Lines and made a PCR call.

Police detained the two men based on the girl's complaint. However, on interrogation, one of the accused not only denied raping the girl, but claimed that he does not own any office in Sonia Vihar.

Verma said arrests would follow after a thorough cross-examination of the girl and the accused.

The main accused has been identified as Rajesh Singhal, a Shahdara-based businessman with office at Sonia Vihar. It is suspected that she was forced into a vehicle from Sonia Vihar and dropped at a secluded spot in Civil Lines.
