Congress convention in Davangere on May 16

The Congress will organise a State-level convention called ‘Saadhana Samavesha’ at Davangere on May 16 to celebrate the party government completing two years in office.

Around two lakh people are expected to take part in the meet aimed at educating people on the steps taken by the government to fulfil the promises made by the party during the 2013 Assembly election.

Speaking to reporters after the meeting, Parameshwara said AICC general secretary in charge of Karnataka, Digvijaya Singh, would attend the convention. Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi is also scheduled to visit the State in the coming days. “We have not sought any particular date from him to visit the State. If not on May 16, he will visit on some other day,” he said.

The party plans to holds similar conventions in other districts after the gram panchayat polls. On the evaluation of ministers, Parameshwara cited the chief minister as saying that there had been continuous evaluation of ministers.

“If the chief minister is happy with his team, then I think it’s okay.” He said he held discussions with Siddaramaiah on the May 16 convention, the gram panchayat polls and the Supreme Court ruling on the elections to the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike.
