A 24-year-old man was battered to death with stones following a drunken argument with three friends in north Delhi’s Bharat Nagar on Tuesday afternoon.

Police said they have arrested the three youths who confessed to the murder during interrogation.

The victim and the accused were residents of the same locality in Bharat Nagar.
Police received a call from a passer-by in afternoon about the presence of a blood-ridden body in some bushes adjacent to railway tracks near Saavan Park in the area.

A police team arrived at the spot to find an injured youth lying in a semi-nude state.
Alcohol bottles, blood-stained bricks and stones and bloodied clothes were found lying near the victim. He was rushed to hospital where he was declared brought dead.
There was no identity card found with the victim because of which he could not be identified.

“His face had been crushed with bricks because of which no one in the area could immediately identify him,” a police officer told Deccan Herald.

Police then began questioning some persons who live around the crime spot.
One of them revealed that he had seen four men head to an isolated spot near the railway tracks. They were carrying alcohol bottles. He seemed to have known the victim.

Police summoned the victim’s family who identified him as Bhalla. They claimed that he had told them he was going out with three other friends.

The three were picked up from their homes later in the day. “Initially they claimed they had nothing to do with the murder. But they finally confessed to having killed Bhalla,” said the officer.

The four were friends and had planned to spend the afternoon drinking. However, a drunken argument between Bhalla and the other three turned violent.

He was subsequently hit with stones and bricks. Once he died, they crushed his face to conceal his identity. They then fled the spot leaving behind the body and the bottles, said the officer.
