Ready for some cine action?

Started in 1973 by BRP Swamy, the Institute was accorded government recognition in 1979 and has given several actors and singers to the big screen.

Stalwarts like R Nagendra Rao, B V Karanth, Girish Kasaravalli and others have served the Institute as principals, imparting valuable lessons on the way. Actors including Jaggesh, Ganesh, Kashinath, Charan Raj, Sunil Puranik and Prashant are all past students of the institute.

New courses

The Institute has now begun film direction and cinematography courses apart from the existing acting, playback singing and other courses. The institute director Kiran has also begun an editing course. The classes are scheduled to begin this July.

Outstation students can avail of the hostel facilities at Hesarghatta along with the well-equipped library there. Director S K Bhagavan and other experienced teachers will be handling the courses in both Kannada and English, of both short and long-term duration.
Under the long-term course, training will be imparted every Monday to Friday between 10 am and 4 pm for one year, while classes will be held for a short duration of six months every weekend at a convenient time.
