The little joys

Colours were the driving force behind Prachita Chopra’s venture — ‘The Little Things’. They lift her mood and yellow undoubtedly tops her list. Adding colours to all the products she makes is something she enjoys doing. A graduate from Christ University and a graphic designer, Prachita started the venture with the support of her mother Kusum Chopra. As the name suggests, Prachita makes little things which are useful and handy.

She always had a love for making personalised gifts for family and friends. Little did she know that her hobby would turn into a full-time profession one day. What made her take the plunge was the motivation and support she received from her family and friends.

“They liked the products I made and I realised that if I was good at this, why not make it my profession?” she says.

It has been four years now since ‘The Little Things’ began and the start-up offers personalised gifts like clocks, playing cards, key chains, fridge magnets, coasters, magnetic memo pads among other quirky things. Dynamic, funky and useful, her products are like a breath of fresh air. The photo frames and coasters are visually appealing.

She markets her products on social networking sites and at flea markets and has received a lot of appreciation from people. “Once the order is placed, we send a soft copy for approval after which the gift is crafted and dispatched,” adds Prachita. She feels that sky is the limit. “The challenge is that people are always looking out for something new. We need to assure the customers that we are capable of churning out new and interesting things.”

She adds,  “Our clientele is diverse. Every time we work on an order, it’s a different experience altogether. Also, we don’t keep any templates for few gifts as we work from scratch according to their requirements. It takes a lot of time to craft personalised gifts.

Most of my customers place their orders with very little time in hand. Initially, there were times when I worked till 3 in the morning. Gradually, I set a time limit for each product and confirmed the orders accordingly. The wonderful feedback and support from the customers makes it all the more easy.”

Prachita has bigger plans for her venture. “I’m working on making a website and also plan to open a store where more customers can conveniently own our products. We have exhibited our products in Pune and Chennai and plan to explore more cities.” With this kind of passion and determination, indeed sky is the limit!
