JOIN USThe Lokayukta has sent 48 special reports to the Governor in the last one year as the State failed to take action against its officials.
Lokayukta Justice Y Bhaskar Rao said on Tuesday that as in April 2015, Lokayukta office had sent 184 reports under Section 12(3) of Lokayukta Act (recommending enquiry against government officials).
Justice Rao said the staff crunch was affecting the functioning of the institution. “When I took charge, 4,568 complaints were pending and at present, the pendency has come down to 930. Between February 2013 and April 2015, 6,836 complaints have been disposed and 184 reports have been sent to the government . Similarly, 120 reports on action taken have been sent to the government for action against the officials. In as many as 48, reports the government has not taken any action against officials. I have sent special reports to the Governor. The Governor would send it to the government and the same will be placed before the Assembly for action,'' Justice Rao said.
The Lokayukta institution has held departmental inquires and in 13 such inquiries, the institution has held officials responsible . “In some cases, officials would have retired or recommendations have been made for compulsory retirement of errant officials. As in April, 101 departmental inquiries are pending. I have visited all 28 districts and disposed of complaints,'' he said. Highest number of complaints were filed in Kolar (209), while the institution disposed of 164.
The Lokayukta said Prosecution Sanction Orders (PSO) were awaited in 88 cases. He said in 34 cases sanction was for less than 6 months, while in 16 cases the sanction was pending between 3 and 6 months. The competent authorities have not cleared PSO in 13 cases for the past one year while 25 cases are pending with the government since last one year.
