Poor financial condition did not hinder the prospect of five students studying SSLC in the BBMP schools, who scored A+ grading, which means that these students scored between 90 and 100 per cent.

According to the data provided by the BBMP, five students scored A+ grading while 26 students got A. As many as 122 students got B+, 280 students got B, 418 students scored C+ and 342 students scored the C grade.

In all, the pass percentage in the BBMP schools is 61.8, which means that of the 1948 students who appeared for the exam, 1,188 have passed. The BBMP has stated that the pass percentage has improved from last year’s 59.3 per cent.

Bhyraveshwara Nagar BBMP Girls' School has topped the BBMP schools with a pass percentage of 96. Next to it is the Srirampura BBMP Girls' School where 87 per cent students passed the SSLC exam.

Almost all the children studying in the BBMP schools come from economically and socially backward class. While the parents cannot afford to send their children to private schools, the BBMP too does not bother much to improve the facilities in these schools.

BBMP Commissioner G Kumar Naik, who was once the Commissioner for Public Instruction, has congratulated the students who passed the examination and scored good grades.
