Four-yr-old girl raped

Police suspect minor boy

A four-year-old girl was allegedly raped after being kidnapped by a minor boy in south Delhi’s R K Puram on Tuesday. The 13-year-old boy has been apprehended and sent to a juvenile home, police said. The kidnapping was also captured on CCTV cameras.

The victim lives with her parents in R K Puram Sector-7. Her father works as a Grade D employee with the central government, while her mother is a homemaker. According to police, the boy had seen the girl playing alone outside a building.

“He went near the girl and took her with him on the pretext of providing chocolates,” said a police officer. On being questioned, the boy confessed that he took the girl to his house in nearby JJ Colony and raped her.

When the girl tried to raise an alarm, he even tried to gag her and then fled from the spot. Locals found the girl crying and in a semi-naked condition. They informed police, after which the girl was taken to her house.

The girl revealed her ordeal on being consoled by her mother. Her medical examination was conducted at AIIMS, which confirmed sexual assault. The girl has been given counselling by an NGO in the presence of her mother.

A case under the Indian Penal Code and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act has been filed with R K Puram police station. The juvenile was initially absconding, but was soon nabbed from the area.

He was produced before the Juvenile Justice Board and sent to a correctional facility for juvenile offenders.

The boy told police that he used to clean cars in the area and had gone to the building on Tuesday morning. The building is covered by CCTV cameras, which also captured him leaving with the girl.
