Bid to rape minor girl

A youth attempted to rape a minor girl at Kasavanahalli in HSR Layout on Thursday afternoon.

According to police, the 5-year-old victim and the accused, Venkatesh, reside in the same building.

When Venkatesh noticed the victim playing in front of her house, he lured her by offering biscuits.

He took her on the first floor and tried to rape her. He let her off as soon as she began crying. When the victim’s mother questioned her, she narrated the incident.

When Venkatesh denied after the victim’s mother questioned him, she approached the police, who grilled the accused. Venkatesh confessed to the crime and was arrested and booked under Section 354 IPC and Pocso Act.
