Union ministers support Gamlin

Last Updated 18 May 2015, 19:59 IST

Even as the furore over the appointment of Shakuntala Gamlin as Acting Delhi Chief Secretary refused to subside, the officer met Union Home Secretary L C Goyal while Union Minister Jitendra Singh stressed on the need of maintaining dignified behaviour towards civil service officers.

Gamlin met Goyal for about 30 minutes along with Delhi Police Commissioner B S Bassi and Joint Secretary Rakesh Singh.

The meeting assumes significance against the backdrop of the simmering tension between the Arvind Kejriwal government and Lt Governor Najeeb Jung over her appointment by the latter as acting Chief Secretary. Kejriwal had accused the officer of trying to favour power companies and that she was installed by the BJP-led central government to make his government unstable.
