Coping with the death of a loved one is the most difficult thing a family goes through, but getting past this traumatic experience and doing good for the less fortunate would be commendable. One such family, which has undertaken this initiative, is that of Pavan Madhukar, 29, who was killed by a truck in a road accident in January this year.

Pavan, a young entrepreneur who had studied Bachelor of Computer Application (BCA) at the Christ University, worked with Mindtree before quitting after two years to start his own business. He was Co-Founder and Chief Product Officer at Plash Digital Labs Pvt Ltd, a news app company. He also had a software company called Spirolution Inc, of which he was the proprietor.

In honour of their son, Usha Madhukar, who works at the State Bank of Mysore, and A N Madhukar, a businessman, are thinking of setting up reading and recreation spaces for children in orphanages across Bengaluru. Usha Madhukar told Deccan Herald: “The loss of our son was really hard on us and since his birthday is coming up on June 14, it made us think about children in orphanages who have lost everything and do not have any facilities. Growing up children read books and play with toys and this is what we want the children at the orphanages to have.

“The thought of setting up these facilities will be an ongoing project starting June 14, to which the Bala Yesu Orphanage, Bannerghatta Road, has agreed.”

Pavan’s father, A N Madhukar, said: “Every home will have childhood-related toys and books. We urge people to donate such things.” He continued, “With the help of our friends, we are reaching out to people to donate such books and toys so that these children have enough variety.”

Jayalakshmi, a friend of the Madhukars who is helping them in collecting books and toys, said, “I think it’s a great way to pay tribute to their son and I hope this initiative becomes a success.”
