A 55-year-old man along with his younger son has been arrested in Allahabad for shooting dead two men in central Delhi’s Rajendra Nagar last week.

Lallu Ram held responsible one of the victims for the death of his elder son in December last year, police said on Friday.

The probe was taken up after firing was reported outside a tea shop in Shankar Road on May 14.

Ram Charan had died on the spot, while Lakhan Lal had succumbed to his injuries at BLK Hospital.

Questioning of Ram and Lakhan’s families had revealed that they were witness in a pending case at Tis Hazari Court.

After an initial investigation, it was revealed that Lallu’s elder son Udai had died in a road accident while returning from Ram’s birthday party on December 26, 2014.

Police conducted several raids to question them, but they were absconding. Technical surveillance helped nab the father-son in Allahabad.

Lallu told police that he and his son Pawan wanted to avenge Udai’s death by killing Ram.

“Lallu hatched a conspiracy along with Pawan and on May 14, they opened fire when Ram was with Lakhan,” said Deputy Commissioner of Police (Central) Parmaditya.Udai had died while coming back from a birthday party organised by Ram at his house in central Delhi’s Inderpuri.

At the party, Udai had an argument with Ram, Lakhan and others following which he left only to die in a road accident.

“After his death, Udai’s wife had also left the house of her in-laws and began living with her parents who are Ram’s tenants. Despite several requests by Lallu and his family members, she was not ready to return to the house,” Parmaditya added.

Lallu and Pawan then bought a country-made pistol from UP and eliminated Ram.
