Students and their parents got their doubts about the technicalities of the Common Entrance Test (CET) counselling cleared during an interactive programme at the ‘Jnana Degula’ event organised by Deccan Herald-Prajavani here on Saturday.

In an engaging session, Mohamed Ziaulla Khan, nodal officer, Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA), narrated in detail the CET seat selection and allotment procedure. He reassured students that applying for revaluation will not alter their CET ranks. In case students gets more marks through revaluation, they will be allotted new CET ranks. These are called spot ranks, he explained.

“If ranks 1 and 2 have already been announced, and the candidate with the spot rank gets a score between the first two ranks, they will be accommodated between these two candidates with what is called a G-55 rank. This will, however, not alter the ranks of candidates that have secured rank 1 or 2,” he said.

Students also had several questions pertaining to the option entry process and the seat allotment. Khan addressed each of their questions and reiterated the nuances of the CET procedure. He advised students to be careful while entering their options at the option entry stage. “Enter as many options as possible. Arrange this according to the order of your priority. The college, course and stream of top preference should be entered as the first option and the rest of the options follow in the same order. There is no limit set on the number of options and hence the candidate can enter an exhaustive list of options to ensure their seats.”

He also clarified several doubts pertaining to submission of income certificates, how to apply for a seat through supernumerary quota and all the requisite documents required to attend the CET counselling.

The two-day Jnana Degula event will have another session on CET on Sunday, where KEA officials will interact with students and give them a clear picture about admissions through CET.
