Inter-state thieves held, articles seized

Mandya Police have been successful in busting various theft cases; arresting a minor boy, who had allegedly murdered a minor girl; and busting betting cases and recovering cash and valuables from the accused.

Addressing media persons, in Mandya, on Tuesday, Superintendent of Police Bushan Borase said, the minor boy, who has allegedly murdered a minor girl at Shivara, Mandya taluk, has been produced before the Juvenile Justice Board, and handed over to the rehabilitation centre.
He said, there are possibilities of the boy murdering the girl out of fear that she might disclose the incident of rape to her family members.


The boy has confessed of murdering the girl. The clue given by the girl’s grandfather led to the arrest.


Inter-state thieves held
Mandya police have also arrested inter-state thieves, involved in theft of jewellery shops, and have recovered silver articles weighing more than six kg, said Bushan Borase.

The nine accused are, Devendrakumar Soni, Moresingh, Dinesh Takur, Mohan, Chota Mohan, Shiva, Hari Singh, Rajendrapuri from Madhya Pradesh, and Akram of Pandavapura taluk.

The accused were involved in thefts at Koppa, Basaralu, Srirangapatna and Halagur in Mandya district; Periyapatna, Bettadapura and Saragur in Mysuru district; Konanur, Halebeedu, Nuggehalli and Sakleshpur in Hassan district; Shanivarasanthe in Kodagu; Medigesi in Tumakuru, Laksheshwara in Gadag and under Bagalkot rural police station limits.

Probationery IPS officer Kishore Babu, Mandya Rural Circle Inspector Lokesh and others took part in the operation.

Car thieves held
Six persons have been arrested for allegedly assaulting a car driver and fleeing with the car that was taken for hire after snatching Rs 3,000 cash from him.

The arrested are Sanjay from Bengaluru, Gangadharaswamy and Sachin of Turuvekere, Venkatesh of Sira, Shashank of Hebburu, Vikas of Maddur. The accused had hatched a plan to rob a petrol bunk cashier in Turuvekere using the robbed car, according to police.

Betting
Mandya police have also arrested 48 people, who were involved in betting during the IPL matches at various taluks of the district. A cash amount of Rs 7,21,765, 52 mobile phones, four television sets and a laptop have been seized.

Additional SP M Puttamadaiah and DySP R Shivakumar were present.
