South Corpn cracks down against illegal hoardings

Cracking the whip against illegal hoardings, the South Corporation has registered 54 FIRs against the defaulters under the Delhi Prevention of Defacement Act 2007.

South Delhi Municipal Corporation Mayor Subhash Arya said the advertisement department of the civic agency has initiated a drive to remove illegal wall wraps, hoardings, flexes and iron structures installed in its all four zones.

“The civic agency has started the drive in the wake of the direction by the High Court. The South Corporation will soon intensify the drive as it will also help in the beautification of the city,” said Arya.

The mayor added that these illegal hoardings are causing revenue loss to the corporation as well as defacing the city.

“The buildings on which these metal structures are installed are also under threat due to its heavy structure,” Arya added.

The civic agency is also planning to launch an awareness drive to spread education among residents about the disadvantages of putting metal structures at buildings for hoardings.
