Cops open fire at rowdy sheeter

The West Division police opened fire at a notorious rowdy at New Extension in Kalasipalya on Sunday night. The accused, Salim, was wanted in several cases of robbery, attempt to murder, extortion and theft cases in various police stations across the City.

Rehman, a constable attached to Kalasipalya police station, along with a few other constables, received an information that Salim was near the New Extension. They went to the spot and tried to arrest him. Salim attacked Rehman with a dagger who suffered injuries on his hand.

Other constables alerted Kalasipalya police inspector Anil Kumar, who rushed to the spot. He also tried to arrest Salim, but was attacked. Kumar opened fire at the rowdy sheeter while he was trying to flee. Salim, who sustained injuries on his right leg, collapsed and was arrested and shifted to Victoria Hospital. Rehman and Kumar are also being treated for their injuries. A case has been registered.
