South-west monsoon set to advance into Karnataka

The south-west monsoon has met favourable conditions for further advance into Karnataka over the next two days, officials from the meteorological department said on Monday.

The Met Office forecast rain and thundershowers at most places in coastal Karnataka and at a few places in the state's interior, officials said.

For Bengaluru city, the weatherman has forecast a generally cloudy sky with rain and thundershowers in some areas on Monday.

Since June 1, Bengaluru has received a rainfall of 36 mm, HAL Airport received 50 mm and Kempegowda International Airport 8 mm, officials said.

The maximum temperature in Bengaluru is likely to hover around 31 degrees Celsius while the minimum temperature is expected to be around 21 degrees Celsius, the weather office said.

On Sunday, the maximum temperature in the city was 31.2 degrees Celsius, a notch above the season's average while the minimum temperature was 21.6 degrees Celsius, two notches above the season's average.
