'I can't wait for the film to release'

Engaging script

Hariprriya has more than one reason to be happy. Her latest project ‘Ranna’ has raked in some brilliant reviews for her and she has completed the shooting for her much-hyped film ‘Ricky’ where although her character appears to be a simple one, it changes colour and gets complicated towards the end.

“The suspense is not revealed until the end of the film. My character has two shades in the movie. I play the role of a Naxalite which I found extremely challenging because I haven’t attempted something like this before,” Hariprriya says.

Hariprriya also states that the shooting for ‘Ricky’ became more intense with Rishab Shetty’s interesting narration of the script. “I was enthusiastic to shoot for ‘Ricky’ at six in the morning and the same interest would remain even at ten at night. The script was thoroughly engaging,” she adds. She further states that the character was different because she has two roles in the film — Radha and Sita. “Radha is the sober one who dresses just as traditionally as she thinks but Sita is bold, outgoing and an extrovert. Sita plays a Naxalite in the movie. It didn’t take too long for me to switch from one character to another,” she adds.

She had to look and behave every bit like a Naxalite so she not only read extensively about them but watched movies that were written and shot around them.

“The director handed me a lot of movies on Naxalites to understand their body language and their life. I also had to alter my diet to lose a lot of weight to suit the character. I had to sport a slightly plump look for the character of Radha but I had to shed loads of weight for Sita’s role,” she reasons.

The experience of working with the team of ‘Ricky’ is also something that Hariprriya can’t forget. “The director Rishab and my co-star Rakshith Shetty would never interfere with each other’s work but would inspire each other to do better. They also gave me the freedom to contribute my bit to the character and make my suggestions as well,” she adds. This kind of atmosphere fuelled a lot of creativity among us, she adds.

Hariprriya also dubbed for the film in two different voices. “This is the first time that I’ve dubbed for the film and the voice modulation for both the characters (Radha and Sita) was a challenging exercise. I can’t wait for the film to release,” she avers.  In another project titled, ‘Bullet Basya’, Hariprriya experiments with comedy  for the very first time.
