Kodagu district BJP General Secretary Manu Muttappa has alleged that Congress has been carrying out a conspiracy to get an entry into Gram Panchayats through backdoor, by claiming reservations for GP President and Vice President positions.

Addressing reporters in Madikeri, on Thursday, he said out of 1219 seats in 102 Gram Panchayats in the district, 604 seats were won by the BJP supported candidates.

But, now, Congress leaders are making efforts to claim reservations for positions of President and Vice President of Gram Panchayats, to get backdoor entries. If Deputy Commissioner  succumbs to their pressure and declares reservations as per whims and fancies of Congressmen, BJP will protest severely and will also approach court, Manu Muttappa said.

District BJP President Suja Kushalappa said most of BJP supported candidates have retained their victories this year too in many Gram Panchayats particularly in Emmemadu, Kunjila and Ayyangeri where the majority of voters are from Muslim community.

He, meanwhile, alleged that the State government has taken a step mother attitude towards Kodagu. Though the Chief Minister has declared Rs 100 crore grants to Kodagu, only Rs 18 crore  worth development works of have been carried out during the last two years and moreover, this amount has also not been released. As a result, the contractors are not ready to take up new works.

Manu Muttappa said Tahsildar has issued an orders saying caste certificate submitted by CMC member Tajassum of Congress, is fake. He urged to cancel her membership and to arrest her. He meanwhile urged the DC to declare Kalavathi of BJP, who won equal number of votes, as the winner.

When asked about allegations on ZP member Raja Rao of BJP, having submitted fake caste certificate, Madikeri Taluk BJP President Thaluru Kishor Kumar said the allegation was not proved. When journalists pointed out further that it has been proven in the court of Assistant Commissioner’s court that the caste certificate of Raja Rao was fake, Manu Muttappa intervened and said the case was in the High Court and the party will take the decision after court verdict. BJP leaders Subramani Upadhyaya, Suvin Ganapathy, Maneyapanda Kanthi Sathish were present.
