Food for the soul

Tucked away in the busy stretches of Koramangala is a colourful cafe that has opened its windows to solitude and comfort. With a splash of bright hues, it is more than just a place to dig in. It is no surprise then that Lincy, one of the owners, prefers to call it ‘The Meeting Room’.

It all started when Lincy and her husband, Manoj, wanted to light the fire of their entrepreneurial streak. “We felt that some of the City-dwellers are caught up in a warp of loneliness and depression and wanted to open a space to help customers share their stories, fears and experiences,” says Lincy.

It has worked miracles as she sees a number of repeat customers in ‘Mustard Ministries’ and even knows their preferences. Over time, strangers have turned into friends and the cafe has become a close-knit community.

‘Mustard Ministries’ leaves no stone unturned to serve the best food to its customers. Though the couple did face a few challenges initially to get their menu straight, they are doing well with a dedicated staff.

Lincy says, “People mainly come to dig into the ‘Carribean jerk chicken’, a delicacy that is grilled with onion and sauce, mushroom pancake and our wholesome breakfast.” Grilled cottage cheese wrap, chicken ‘tikka’ wrap, Eva’s strawberry punch, Zara’s pinacolada and chocolate walnut brownie served with vanilla ice cream are some of their popular delicacies.

The top floor comprises a studio room where parties, customised lunches and themed banquets are held. There is also a gift shop which sell knick-knacks such as coasters, tablecloth and showpieces with inspirational messages, a small library that contains a range of books and a recreation centre where people can relax.

Though the cafe was started consciously to cater to the taste of the urban young and help them overcome their obstacles, Lincy sees a large section of the corporate and office crowd walking in everyday.

“Over time, we realised that we all go through the same struggles and difficulties. Trouble has no age bar.” And through this, Lincy hopes that she can open the small door of faith and enrich her customer’s lives.

‘Mustard Ministries’ is located at No 1053, 1st Floor, 7th Main, 3rd Block, Koramangala, 80 Feet Road. It is open from 12 pm to 10 pm. For details, call 9611132475.
