CM to meet Governor over appointing VCs

Chief Minister Siddaramaiah is scheduled meet Governor Vajubai Vala on June 15 to discuss appointment of vice chancellors to six universities.

Official sources said the search committees’ reports were submitted to the governor, who happens to be the chancellor, about five months ago.

Still, no decision on selection has been taken. With this, all six universities are managed by in-charge VCs. This is posing problem in functioning of the varsities. This would be explained to the governor by Siddaramaiah, it is said.

Siddaramaiah to discuss

The sources said that the higher education department has already replied to the questions raised by the governor. Still the appointments have not been made, is the argument of the government. The chief minister has decided to personally discuss the issue with the governor to find out the reasons for the delay.

Following universities do not have vice chancellors –  Gulbarga University, Ranichennamma University, Kuvempu University, Srikrishnadevaraya University, Sanskrit University and Karnataka University.
