The High Court on Tuesday directed  the BBMP to look into the charges of building bylaw violations at Mantri Square commercial complex on Sampige Road in Malleswaram.

Devaneshan, a resident of Malleswaram, had moved the court, claiming that the Mantri group had constructed the commercial complex violating the building bylaws and the joint director, town planning, sanctioned the plan without looking into the illegalities. Lakshmy Iyengar, counsel for the petitioner, contended that the bylaws stipulate that for a high-rise building above 50 metres in height, there shall be a 16-metre setback on each side, but there is was such setback left for the commercial complex.

A division bench comprising acting Chief Justice S K Mukherjee and Justice B V Nagarathna  disposed of the matter by observing that it could not go into the aspects of violations and directed BBMP to hear the matter and pass orders accordingly.
