Always game for life

Last Updated 18 June 2015, 13:45 IST

For most people, weekends are about relaxing in the company of loved ones in the cosy comfort of home. But for me, come weekend and I am outdoors taking part in adventure activities, cycling, hitting the road on a short trip or in a spa pampering myself.

If I am at home though, I would be playing board games like ‘Monopoly’ with my parents and my sister, which is sheer fun. We set aside a particular time for it. However, I always end up losing! Playing the game together helps me relive the memories of childhood and is something I look forward to.

My friends are a big part of  my life and during the weekends, they come home and we chat endlessly. Since I’m always busy shooting at different places, I cherish the weekends that I spend at home and try to indulge in healthy food.

One of my favourite dishes is my mother’s ‘mutter paneer’, which is amazing. Since we are settled in Delhi, we also enjoy street food like  ‘papdi chaat’, ‘aloo kulla’, ‘gobi muttar samosas’ and ‘bhel puri’.

I have been an adventurous person since I was a kid and very independent. But over the years, I have grown closer to  my parents. While I share all the important events of my life with my mom, my father is my pillar of support. I remember when I was a kid, he would be so reluctant to even send me for a sleepover during holidays and weekends.

So when I told him I wanted to become an actor, it was really hard for him to come to terms with it. In spite of that, he stood by me and I owe it to him for making me strong and independent.

The star of the family though is my younger sister Shagun. She is the only person who has had a very relaxed and fun life. My dad and I had to struggle to reach where we are now. She is quite chilled out and takes her own time to do things. We recently started her own wedding planning venture and since I always wanted to work with her, I help her out. This keeps me busy during most weekends.

My sister is my best friend and we talk endlessly about our lives. We also plan short holidays whenever both of us are at home. Since I enjoy travelling so much, I have lot of memories associated with it. There was one weekend when my friends and I decided to go to Dubai. To say the least, we had a blast.

It was just a three-day holiday but included a number of adventurous activities like rock climbing and scuba diving. The best part was that we stayed in a resort and indulged in some ‘girl talk’.

Although I do a lot of travelling even on weekends, I haven’t explored Bengaluru as much as I should. I have only visited the City a couple of times. I never really had the time to take a break from my shoot and experience the City. But Bengaluru is an amazing city, a compilation of peaceful aura and greenery which makes it so beautiful.

Even though I lead a very busy life, I look forward to the weekends as they bring me closer to my family and friends. Most importantly,  weekends help me discover myself better.
