Minor gang-raped

Police have arrested three men on the charge that they gang-raped a 14-year-old girl when she was alone at her home in Ragigudda slum in JP Nagar on Wednesday night.

The girl, a school dropout, lives with her grandmother, who works as a maid. The suspects—Assaiah, 20, a fruit vendor, Santhosh, 19, who supplies mineral water cans, and Ajay, 21, an auto-rickshaw driver—had barged into the girl’s home around 8 pm after learning that she was alone.

They closed the door behind and forced themselves on the girl and gang-raped her. Then they ran away. When the girl’s grandmother came back home, she saw her crying. When she asked her what was the matter, the girl narrated the ordeal, the police said.

The shocked grandmother then informed her neighbours, went to the police station and made a complaint. The police launched a manhunt for the suspects and picked them up from different places.
