Attack on CMC commissioner, member flayed

City Municipal Council members condemned the alleged assault on CMC Commissioner Pushpavathi and CMC member K S Prakash, by some tourists.

At an urgent meeting called in the CMC hall on Monday, all members condemned the incident. 

Pushpavathi and Prakash alleged that the police have behaved rudely with them and have lodged serious cases against them. The Council meeting gave the permission to the CMC Commissioner to personally lodge a case in this regard.

Also, the members suggested the victims to submit complaints to the district in-charge minister and the IGP. Members P D Ponnappa, Shivakumari, Chummi Devaiah, Srimathi Bangera and others were present.

In the wake of the incident, civic workers association members have warned of stage a stir by calling off their duties on June 24, if the real culprits are not arrested. They alleged that the police have failed in carrying out their duties. The workers have already submitted complaints to the Deputy Commissioner and the SP.

About the incident

An exchange of words had taken place between the CMC Commissioner’s car driver and some tourists, regarding the parking of vehicles near Raja seat in Madikeri.

When CMC member K S Prakash and Commissioner Pushpavathi, went to console the parties, the tourists had allegedly assaulted the CMC member and the Commissioner.
