Alumni support for IISc students

Last Updated 23 January 2010, 17:42 IST

The IISc Alumni Association (AA) launched knowledge exchange programme at the IISc on Saturday.

The programme, a portal that has been created by a private company, will serve as a platform for knowledge dissemination and expertise sharing from senior alumni to not only students of the IISc, but also students from the other institutions across the country.

“The alumni showed interest in doing something for the institution and the society. So we thought that this programme would act as a great forum for both the groups - students and alumni - to interact,” said V Babu Sathian, an association member.

The website would not only have profiles of alumni but also their fields of expertise and what and how they would like to help the students. There is also facility for sponsors like corporate and research companies to participate.

While the website is currently available only to the IISc students, Sathian said that they planned to open it for other students within six months. “I want this pool of knowledge to be available to all engineering college students,” he said. Till now 650 people have registered with the website.

Besides the programme, the association will also organise general scientific lecture for public starting from February, this year.
