Cong seeks Sushma, Raje resignation

The Karnataka State Congress Committee staged a demonstration on Wednesday demanding the resignation of Union Minister for External Affairs Sushma Swaraj and Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje over their roles in helping Lalit Modi, an accused in irregularities related to the IPL, flee the country.

The demonstration at Freedom Park was led by State Congress president G Parameshwara, secretary Hariprasad, Ministers Ramalinga Reddy and Dinesh Gundu Rao and MLA S T Somashekhar, where a large number of people participated. The leaders sought to know the reason behind Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s silence and inaction vis-a-vis Sushma and Raje.

Parameshwara said, “The Narendra Modi government came to power with a promise to give a corruption-free governance. But within a year, there are fissures revealing the government’s ugly and hideous side.” He pointed out that during the UPA regime, when allegations of corruption surfaced, Natwar Singh and Ashok Chavan were asked to ousted.
