Temple vacation: Padayatra at Makkandoor today

The Hindu organisation workers, who allege that few persons belonging to minority community have demolished the Subrahmanya Temple which was built at Makkandoor would carryout a protest from Makkandoor to Madikeri on Friday.

Vishwa Hindu Parishat, Hindu Jagaran Vedike and BJP have expressed their support to the Padayatra organised by the Subrahmanya Devalaya Punarnirmana Samiti.
The protesters will commence from Makkandoor and enter Madikeri through Kannandabaane circle.

The rally would pass through Banni Mantapa, Choudeshwari temple, Mahadevapet, Chowki, General Thimmaiah circle, before submitting a memorandum to the Deputy Commissioner.
According to the Hindu organization leaders, Nizamuddin had purchased the land belonged to Bhaskar, Ayyappa and Sridhara of Makkandoor- Emmetaalu village.

Later the temple was demolished and a toilet was constructed at the place.  Moreover, a camp was conducted at the place for minority students. Books related to religious discourse were found at the place. The organisation leaders have demanded the district administration to arrest the persons who demolished the temple.

However, the people who had sold the land have claimed that they themselves had destroyed the temple before selling it to other community people. The things of the temple have been given to Palani Temple of Tamil Nadu.They had also showed the permission letter issued by the police to transport the temple idols.

BJP supports Padayatra

 Kodagu District BJP will support the Makkandoor to Madikeri Padayatra, which will be held on Friday, condemning the demolition of Subramanya temple of Makkandoor.
  
Briefing reporters, BJP District Convener Subrahmanya Upadyaya said that BJP District Unit president Suja Kushalappa and other leaders would participate in the Padayatra. The demolition of the temple has hurt the religious feelings of Hindus and culprits should be arrested immediately, he demanded the state government and alleged that Congress is indirectly supporting culprits.

Deputy Commissioner Meer Anees Ahmed said that the Makkandoor temple vacation issue is under investigation and nothing can be said in this stage.  During an interaction with media persons at Press Club here on Thursday, he said: “Tahsildar is conducting inquiry and I wont tell anything regarding this. Security arrangements have been done as the Hindu organisations will carry out a protest rally on Friday.”
