A 19-year-old girl was stabbed to death in Anand Parvat on Thursday, police said on Friday.

She was attacked by her neighbour with the help of his brother for objecting to abuses hurled at her by them, police said. While the accused has been arrested, police have detained his brother for questioning.

Police said even victim Meenakshi’s mother got injured while trying to save her.
Jai Parkash, 21, who is a salesman at Gaffar Market was caught near Ramjas School ground in Anand Parvat, a police officer said.

“The accused used a knife to commit the crime. The weapon has also been recovered from his possession,” he added.

On Thursday, Meenakshi was returning home after buying groceries when she was waylaid by Parkash and Ajay.

“Prakash started hurling abuses at her. When Meenakshi objected to his abusive language, Parkash pulled out a knife and stabbed her multiple times,” they added.

Meenakshi ran towards her house. “On seeing the teenager, her mother came out to defend her. She was also stabbed in the back by Parkash. After that they fled from the spot,” police said.

A PCR call was received around 7.45 pm about a girl been stabbed, police said.
“A team rushed to the spot and found that the injured had been taken to RML Hospital,” a police officer said.

“When the team reached the hospital, it found the victim unconscious and undergoing treatment. Meenakshi had sustained multiple injuries,” he added.

“During treatment, she succumbed to her injuries.” Her mother is out of danger.
An FIR under section 302/324 Indian Penal Code (murder and voluntarily causing hurt by dangerous weapons) was registered with Anand Parvat police station against Prakash, while Ajay has been detained for questioning.

During investigation, it was revealed that the families of the victim and the accused live in the same locality.

“Their relations were strained and not on talking terms. They often indulged in fighting with each other over petty issues,” police said.
