For a clear vision

Last Updated 24 July 2015, 18:26 IST

As much as 86 per cent of the vision correction across the world is through spectacles. However, a major mistake people make while cleaning their lenses is using ordinary cloth or tissue paper. Facial oils and humidity in surrounding environment can cause a sticky layer on the glasses that quickly attracts dust and dirt.

Majority use any visible piece of cloth to clean their spectacles and also wash them roughly under water without any regard for the sensitive lenses.

Consequently, minute shreds of fabric and microscopic scratches find their way on the surface of the lenses. The scratches remain invisible initially, but when this trauma to the lens keeps piling up, the scratches start manifesting in the form of visible lines and blurry areas on the lens.

But do not fret! Here are some tips to help clean your spectacles, without causing them any damage:

Cleaning cloth: Every pair of spectacles is assisted with a piece of cloth which is made up of microfibre and does not leave any stain after cleaning. For an instant clean-up, put your glasses under running warm water. The force of the water will drag out the dust particles. You can also wipe the spectacles with the cleaning cloth directly.
Cleaning solutions: Lens-cleaning solutions are prepared using advanced formula that helps in keeping the glasses clean and dust-free. These solutions are also available as sprays. Stubborn soiling or deposition of dust on the spectacles can be easily addressed using the spray in conjunction with a microfibre cloth.
Cleaning wipes: Medically designed lens-cleaning wipes are made of micro tissue that ensures quick and effective  cleaning. With an exceptionally fine structure, these wipes work even on glasses with quality coatings. Free from any artificial fragrance and aggressive cleaning substance, cleaning wipes are pre-moistened with active cleaning agents.
