Farmers complain of corruption at ZP Engineering dept

Say bill cleared for road work not completed

The members of the Raitha Sangha staged a dharna in the town on Friday alleging corruption in Zilla Panchayat Engineering department.

The protesters said that a ZP engineer had cleared a bill related to the laying of a road at P B Manchanahalli, KR Pet taluk in the district, though the work had not been executed at all.

Spot inspection

A team of engineers from the ZP, which made a spot inspection after receiving complaints, submitted a report confirming the lapse, three years ago. However, the officials concerned are hesitating to take action against the errant official, they claimed.They also alleged corruption by the Bookanakere panchayat development officer. A duct that was constructed at Sindhaghatta was demolished due to political interference. This has created a lot of problems for the public.

The complaints lodged in this regard have not been considered, they criticised. Sangha district unit president Rajegowda criticised the officials concerned for neglecting the farmers’ demands. The farmers said, the protest would continue till the officials explain the steps taken by them in this regard. The farmers cooked food and had lunch on the premises of the Zilla Panchayat office.
