Stop salary bias, primary school teachers urge govt

Primary School Teachers State Association president Basavaraj Gurikar has urged the government  to stop discrimination in payment to primary school teachers and implement the recommendations of the pay commission.

He also demanded that the Rs 300 special pay be merged with the basic pay.
Briefing reporters, in Chikkamagaluru, on Friday, he urged the government to scrap Nali-Kali programme. Also, loopholes in the transfer system must be addressed to. The posts of headmasters for first to seventh standard, should be sanctioned along with those of the non-graduate headmasters post for the primary schools having 100 percent enrolment.

Also, the continuation and comprehensive evaluation system must be simplified, he said.
He, meanwhile, urged revision of the circular towards additional teachers and to implement an uniform school education policy.

Increments must be given to the Primary School Education Coordinators, as per the previous order. Pre-primary schools must be opened in every primary school. Every school must have a headmaster and subject teachers.

The service of rural grace mark teachers, during the period of suspension must be taken into account and the new pension scheme should be scrapped.

Discussion should be held with the teachers’ association before implementing Prof Govindaraju report. Increment must also be given to physical education teachers,  Urdu teachers and Education coordinators.

School based training must be scheduled from April 1 to 9 and June  to 10. 22,000 posts of lower primary school headmasters should be sanctioned, he urged.

Basavaraj Gurikar said High School teachers in 224 model schools are carrying out the job of the headmasters. Non-graduate primary school teachers must be recruited to such posts. Eligible primary school teachers must be given rural allowance.

The government must reserved funds for medical reimbursement for teachers. A school assistant must be appointed in every primary school.

The winter vacation should be retained as the previous year, he said.
