City police, who are investigating into the spurt in chain-snatching cases, have been preparing the sketches of suspects behind the crime.

Replying to queries by media persons, City Police Commissioner B Dayananda said on Sunday, “It could be the gang of three outsiders who robbed eight women on July 21. The trio is suspected to have stolen two motorbikes with the sole intention of robbery and have used only vehicle for the purpose. They have abandoned the vehicle after the crime.”

Reacting to a particular query on the possibility of involvement of the members of ‘Irani’ gang arrested by the Bengaluru police recently, Dayananda replied in affirmative.

When compared to the statistics of previous two years, the number of chain-snatching cases reported this year has been the lowest.

A total of 44 cases were reported in 2014 and 20 had been solved, while in 2013, a total of 104 cases were reported and 64 were solved.
