Speaking at the International Customs Day celebration, he called for cooperation between government and private agencies.
“Development of backward districts, is possible by the progress of the small scale industries. Private players have played a substantial role in the ensuring the economic security of the country,” Agarwal said.
Commenting on the earnings of the Bangalore International Airport in the year 2009, the Income Tax chief commissioner said, “As many as 131 foreign aircraft arrive at BIA and 136 aircraft depart. For the year 2009, Rs 3,140 crore of income was expected from BIA, but the turn-over was only Rs 1,700 crore. Stringent administration would be followed in the present year”.
