387 cases booked against traffic offenders

In a continued drive against traffic offenders, the city police on Saturday booked a total of 387 cases and collected a spot fine of Rs 28,500 from them.

According to a press release from Police Commissioner B Dayananda, a total of 209 cases were booked against vehicles parked in prohibited zones (No parking) and Rs 20,900 fine was collected. Another 76 cases were booked against vehicles for using high beam headlights and a fine of  Rs 7,600 was collected.

In a drive against drunk-driving,  a total of 1,138 various types of vehicles were intercepted and cases were booked against 102 drivers.

It included 63 two-wheelers, followed by 23 four-wheelers, six heavy motor vehicle (HMV) drivers, five autorickshaw drivers, three light goods vehicle drivers and two light motor vehicle drivers.

The driving licences of erring drivers have been confiscated and will be recommended for suspension to regional transport officers (RTO), the police said.
