MLA favours consensus on GP elections

“The people should arrive at a consensus to select the candidates unopposed and thus contribute for the development of villages,” the MLA said here on Thursday. He was speaking after launching the work on construction of cement road and community hall at a cost of Rs 2 lakh in Kodikannur village of the taluk.

Steps will be taken to install pumpset for the borewell sunk in the village. A sum of Rs one lakh was granted for construction of Venugopalaswamy temple. “I will personally contribute Rs 50,000 for speedy completion of the work. Steps will be taken to ensure benefits under Aradhana scheme,” he said.

Rural Block Congress president Suryaprakash Begli called upon people to take advantage of Mahatma Gandhi Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme instead of migrating in search of work.

Gram Panchayat vice president Narayanaswamy, Milk Producers Cooperative Society president E Ranganath, member Muniyappa, Nanjundappa and others were present.
