Corruption charge against CMC is baseless: Commissioner

Dayanand who was  in charge of water supply department had allotted contracts to Maruti Engineering Works, a fictitious company. Several members had complained of sub-standard work in the 17 borewells drilled under his supervision. Even the legislators had directed the CMC to not encourage sub-standard work and initiate legal action against Dayanand, explained the commissioner.

Even the former CMC member Sangeetha Srinivas has conveyed her disapproval of Dayanand’s accusation of the CMC, clarified Yerrappa.

The allegation of corruption against the CMC is baseless. Intermediaries by using the name of the officers concerned are indulging in corrupt practices. Hence, the public should approach the officers concerned directly. Also, it has been noticed that several former and current CMC members are working as intermediaries. Thus, the departments concerned have been directed to contain the menace of the intermediaries, said CMC Commissioner Yerrappa.
