Tyagarajaswamy was pioneer of 'Bhakti movement': MLA

He was speaking at the Aradhana Mahotsava ceremony of Tyagarajaswamy and the general body meeting held at the Pandurangaswamy Samudaya Bhavan, by the Savitha Samaj in Sira on Thursday.

The MLA said, thanks to the relentless efforts rendered by the great souls for the achieving the heights of ‘Bhakti Marga’, the ‘Bhakti Pantha’ became an extremely strong cult in the country. Tyagarajaswamy in Andhra Pradesh, Chaitanya Prabhu in Maharashtra, the great Dasas of Karnataka have all contributed to the ‘Bhakti Movement.’

With their relentless contributions, all the social evils were eradicated in the society during those days. These religious crusaders were able to instill good values and principles in the society, Jayachandra added.

He called upon the members of the Savitha Samaj to engage themselves in more meaningful and constructive activities. He also advised them to excel themselves in academic interests and also become financially independent, so that they could achieve progress in their lives.

 District President of Savitha Samaj G Narasimhaiah presided over the programme. Former MLA S K Dasappa, Director of Backward Classes Development Corporation Veerabhadrappa, district representative Nagaraj, taluk president of the Savitha Samaj Devaraj also spoke .
