At a time when cases of child abuse and assaults are on the rise, a company has launched a child protection and safety device that keeps track of children and aims to ensure they are safe at all times.

Called ‘MyChild’, the device was launched by Krupa Amar Alva, chairperson, Karnataka State Commission for the Protection of Child Rights, here on Thursday. The device uses WiFi, data connection RFID and Bluetooth, connected through a wearable device for child safety.

The device runs on a system that has three complex functions - the Child Peripheral Device (CPD) - a small wearable electronic piece that allows parents to get real-time information about their child; the Parent Spine Protocol - a personalised command centre that receives and relays information from the CPD with the help of an iOS and Android-integrated mobile system, which provides information on a child’s whereabouts, safe zones and several other safety components; and the Integrated Intelligent Remote Protocol - a central server that commands, controls, computes and communicates to manage the entire process.

Scalene Intelligence, which built the product, says it plans to associate with the Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited to provide end-to-end communication between parents and children.
