All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) has approached the High Court seeking permission to hold a public meeting at HMT Grounds in RT Nagar.

The party contended that the returning officer had permitted the party to hold the meeting, but withdrew it subsequently. The counsel for State government argued that the permission was given for the meeting, but the party announced that Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi would be addressing the rally. The permission was denied for a clearance from the police. Justice A S Bopanna adjourned the hearing till Wednesday.

HC notice to govt, SEC

The High Court has ordered emergent notice to the State government, tahsildar of Bengaluru North and the State Election Commission, in a petition filed by Shobha, whose candidature for the BBMP elections was rejected.

The petitioner has sought the court to stay the final notification and the calendar of events pertaining to Kempapura Agrahara ward as her caste certificate was wrongly withdrawn by the tahsildar. Justice Raghavendra S Chauhan ordered notice to the State government and adjourned the hearing to August 20.
