The who’s who of the Kananda film industry came out to exercise their franchise. This was in contrast to the decision of many Bengalureans who did not turn up to cast their vote.

Dressed in blue denims and ash-coloured printed T- Shirt, Puneeth Rajkumar cast his vote at Poornapragna School in Sadashivanagar, under  Aramanenagar ward, at 7 am. He turned up for voting after his morning workout. “As I have to go to Shivamogga for an event, I have come early,” he said.

Vinay Rajkumar, son of actor Raghavendra Rajkumar, also exercised his franchise at the same booth a while later.

‘Hat-trick hero’ Shivarajkumar exercised his franchise at a school in Rachenahalli in Thanisandra ward towards the evening.  “I am busy travelling to extend invitation for my daughter’s wedding. I returned from Tirupati only yesterday (Friday). Voting is a duty and responsibility of the citizens. We must vote to at least address our problems,” he said.

Real Star Upendra, who is basking in the success of his latest hit ‘Uppi-2’, along with his actor-wife Priyanka, mother Anasuya, voted in Katriguppe ward under Basavanagudi Assembly constituency.

Talking to reporters, Upendra said that the low voter turnout showed that people are losing faith in the system. “This is because despite voting for years, the condition of roads and drains has not improved. People should take care of the garbage menace now and the government should  ban plastic as cows are seen feeding on them and their milk is given to children. People, however, should not lose faith and should come out and vote to elect the right candidate.”

‘Crazy Star’ Ravichandran voted in Prakashnagar ward in Rajajinagar while Pooja Gandhi exercised her franchise in Katriguppe. Actor-MLC Tara Anuradha, dressed in a bright white salwar, cast her vote at JP Nagar and also appealed to people to come out and vote in large numbers. Film-maker Nagathihalli Chandrashekar, actor Ramesh Arvind were also the early birds at the polling booths.

Director Prem and his wife Rakshitha voted in Attiguppe. Actress Shruti, dressed in bright yellow kurti, cast her vote in Basaveshwaranagar. So too actor couple Malavika and Avinash, who voted in  RR Nagar. Actor-MLC Jaggesh and his wife Pramila, ‘Nenapirali’ Prem, actor-couple Ananth Nag and his wife Gayathri also cast their votes.
