JOIN USA head constable attached to the Chickpet traffic police station has been suspended on the charges of accepting bribe and dereliction of duty.
Rangaswamy was suspended for taking bribes from auto-rickshaw drivers who violated rules. “A number of autrorickshaw drivers, who operate at Briand Circle, violate rules by ferrying more passengers than the prescribed number. Rangaswamy never acted against the violations despite being aware of it. He would take bribe from them and look the other. He wouldn’t book them for violating rules,” said a senior police officer.
After receiving complaints about Rangaswamy, officials in plain clothes caught him red-handed taking bribe from a driver for permitting an additional passenger to board the auto-rickshaw, the police said.
