The BJP will soon submit a petition signed by 25 Members of Legislative Council (MLCs) to the Chairman of the Upper House seeking a motion to remove Lokayukta Y Bhaskar Rao. BJP State President Pralhad Rao said the petition would be submitted to Chairman D H Shankaramurthy within two days. Karnataka Lokayukta (Amendment) Bill - 2015, which simplifies the procedure and fixes a time-frame for removing the Lokayukta, had recently received the assent of Governor Vajubhai Vala. According to the amended legislation, one-third of members (25 in case of Council and 75 in case of Assembly) can submit a petition to the respective presiding officers seeking a motion to remove the Lokayukta.
