Nurse hangs herself in hotel toilet, leaving 'lover' in bedroom

A 23-year-old nurse is suspected to have hanged herself in the toilet of a lodge in Marathahalli here early on Monday morning, hours after she checked in with a male colleague.

Police said Ashwini, who hailed from Kerala, had an argument with her co-worker, identified as Subhan, in the hotel room.

She was madly in love with him and proposed that they get married. But Subhan didn’t reciprocate, leading to an argument between the two. They went to bed after a while.

Ashwini got up around 5 am and went into the toilet. When she didn’t come out after long, Subhan became apprehensive and knocked on the door repeatedly. But there was no response.

He then called out for room boys. The door was broken open and Ashwini was found hanging from the ceiling, struggling to breathe. She was taken to a hospital where doctors attended to her but she did not respond to treatment, a police officer said quoting Subhan.

Failed promise of marriage

Ashwini worked as a nurse at a private hospital in RT Nagar and lived in Pulakeshinagar. She fell in love with Subhan who had initially promised to marry her.

“Ashwini’s parents will reach Bengaluru on Tuesday. We will take action against Subhan based on the complaint,” the officer said.
