Student found hanging

Police said Pushpanjali Porthi (24) of Jamshedpur had secured provisional admission in the college and was staying in the hostel for the last six months.

 According to her college mates she had been depressed for the last one week after she learnt that she had failed to get the required eligibility marks of 50 per cent in her final degree examination to continue her studies, and was forced to opt out.

She went into deeper depression after she was informed by the college that her provisional admission had been cancelled. Though her hostel mates tried to cheer her up and advised her take up another course, she had packed her bags in preparation for her return home.

Sources said she had left a death note addressed to her sister Indu in Hindi saying: “I have troubled the parents and don't want to be a burden. Please take care of them.”
Woman smothered to dead

Huchchamma (75)  was found smothered to death at her Hottapanahalli residence in Nelamangala on Saturday.

She was into money lending business. The police were baffled to see the body without clothes. A few valuables belonging to her, including earstuds, a nose ring and bangles were missing. Police are looking out for Sampangiram who was reportedly the last person to visit her house before her death.

Dowry victim
A 34-year-old married woman with three children hanged herself after she was tortured for dowry allegedly by her husband and in-laws in Hulimavu on Saturday, said police.
Shakuntala was married to Chandrashekar, a real estate businessman and a hardware dealer. For the last six-and-half years, Shakuntala’s husband did not allow her to visit her parents’ place.

He would also not allow her to dress neatly or talk to neighbours. Police have detained her husband while her in-laws are absconding.

House burgled

Basheer, the complainant has stated that he along with the family had gone out to attend a funeral and when they returned they were shocked to see the rear door thrown open and valuables missing.
