Nitish asks PM to give an account of work done by NDA govt

In a scathing attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar today demanded that the PM give an account of the work done by the NDA government at the Centre instead of asking him to give an account of 25-year rule of RJD and JD(U) in Bihar.

"He has been asking us to give an account of the 25-year rule of RJD and JD(U) but is himself running away from giving account of work of his government in the past one-and-a-half year to the people.

"Prime Minister said he would give account of his government in five years. But in five years the people themselves take account of the work," he told a private TV channel programme here.

He claimed that there was no progress on poll promises made by the prime minister regarding bringing back black money and distribution of Rs 15 lakh to Rs 20 lakh out of it to every citizen, jobs for youths and enhanced MSP for farmers.

Kumar said he has been submitting report card of the work by his government every year. "This year in July we gave a composite report of 10 year of my government since 2005."

He said while presenting his future vision for next five years he had unveiled several programmes for the welfare of youths, women and unemployed if voted back to power in the coming again.

Kumar took umbrage to Modi's DNA barb at him, which, he said, is considered an abuse in rural areas. He also rubbished the reason given by BJP that the prime minister meant his political DNA.

"I have never heard that DNA is political. Besides hear again the speech of the PM at Muzaffarpur and he has no where talked about political DNA," Kumar, whose party has launched "Sabdhwapsi" (take back words) campaign on DNA issue, said.

Kumar justified his party JD(U)'s alliance with Lalu Prasad's RJD in the coming assembly poll in Bihar. "Our alliance with Lalu Prasad is based on political line. Ideologically we are one. We are followers of Rammonohar Lohia and Jayprakash Narayan," he said.

The Bihar CM trashed BJP allegation of return of jungle raj saying it was done only to decry the JD(U)-RJD alliance.

"So far I am there security, peace and harmony will prevail in the state ... Fear will not return in the minds of people and rule of law will continue to prevail," Kumar,  who has been declared as chief minister nominee of grand secular alliance, said.

Quoting figures from National Crime Record Bureau to prove that crime situation was worst in BJP-ruled states of Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and Gujarat, Kumar alleged that the party was wearing a mask of development but was in truth encouraging casteism in the Bihar elections.

"Prime Minister mentions Yaduvanshi (Yadav castemen) in his rallies which indicates that he is moving around with mask of development but actually playing caste and communal cards in Bihar poll," he said.
