JOIN USBulls edge past Tuskers
K C Cariappa (3/14) and K P Appanna (3/17) shared six wickets between them to help Bijapur Bulls defend a modest total and clinch a 16-run victory against Bellary Tuskers in their Karbonn Smart Karnataka Premier League IV encounter here at the Rajnagar Stadium on Friday.
Put into bat, Bulls’ batsmen struggled to get going and were restricted to 125 for eight in the alloted 20 overs. All-rounder B Akhil’s 25 was the only significant score for the Bulls.
Needing just above six runs per over, the Tuskers made heavy weather of the task and were bundled out for 109. Cariappa and Appanna worked in tandem to trouble the Tuskers’ batsmen.
Earlier, the Bulls never looked in control and lost wickets at regular intervals. Promising opener R Samarth was the first to depart when he was removed by Prasidha Krishna for 17. Raju Bhatkal (21) and skipper Robin Uthappa (9) failed to impress either, as the Bulls were left tottering at 47 for three in the ninth over. The middle-order, comprising the experienced Sunil Raju and Deepak Chougule, succumbed to pressure as the Tuskers continued to dominate proceedings. At 84 for seven, Akhil’s cameo pushed Bulls past the 120-mark. Prasidh returned with impressive figures of three for 24 for the Tuskers.
