HC asks Palike to instal road signs near school

The High Court on Friday disposed of a PIL directing the State government and the BBMP to instal signboards, amber caution signal, road hump and zebra crossing on 100-ft Road at Ashoka Pillar near Parikarama School for the safety of the schoolchildren. 

A division bench comprising acting Chief Justice S K Mukherjee and Justice B V Nagarathna directed the BBMP to ensure that the order be complied within the next three months.
The petitioner, Prakash Babu K had filed a PIL seeking directions from the court to implement transport minister’s letter to the BBMP’s traffic engineering cell directing them to instal traffic signboards, road hump, amber caution and zebra crossing opposite the Parikrama School near Ashoka Pillar.  The petitioner had contended that the said school was negligent towards the safety of the students as several accidents had taken place outside the school gate when the students were trying .

Spot inspection ordered

The High Court has directed government counsel M I Arun to inspect Bharath Housing Co-operative Society in Uttarahalli for a site inspection in view of the contention that a commercial complex had come up on the site meant for civic amenities.

A division bench comprising acting Chief Justice S K Mukherjee and Justice B V Nagarathna directed the counsel to inspect the place on Sunday with necessary police protection. The bench directed him to submit the inspection report to the court on September 21.
