A man on Friday morning caught one of the two robbers who tried to rob him off his wallet, and handed him over to police in north Delhi’s Mukherjee Nagar. The other robber, however, managed to flee from the spot, police said.
Ashish Kolash was waiting for an auto at Mukherjee Nagar when two men intercepted him. One of them grabbed his hand and another tried to snatch his wallet, police said.
The nabbed culprit was identified as Pankaj, a known criminal involved in 24 cases of robbery, snatching and attempt to murder in Delhi and NCR. He is an expert in committing crime in crowded places.
His accomplice Jitender is also a history-sheeter with several cases against his name, police said.
Police are interrogating Pankaj to find out more about their modus operandi and the whereabouts of Jitender. CCTV footage from the area are being examined to locate him.
Police have also proposed for suitable reward to Kolash for exhibiting courage and presence of mind during the incident.
